symbols
ocean - The primordial waters; chaos; formlessness; material existence; endless motion; it is the source of all life, containing all potentials; the sum of all possibilities in manifestation; the unfathomable; the 'anima mundi, the Great Mother. The ocean also symbolizes the sea of life which has to be crossed. ("An Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Traditional Symbols", J. C. Cooper, 1978)
eye - Omniscience; the all-seeing divinity; the faculty of intuitive vision. The eye is a symbol of all sun gods and of their life-giving power of fertilization by the sun; their poser is incarnated in the god-king; Plato calls it the most solar of instruments. It is also the mystic eye; light; enlightenment; knowledge; the mind; vigilance; protection; stability; fixity of purpose, but also the limitation of the visible. ("An Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Traditional Symbols", J. C. Cooper, 1978)
phan·tom also fan·tom (făn'təm) - n.
Something apparently seen, heard, or sensed, but having no physical reality; a ghost or an apparition.
Something elusive or delusive.
An image that appears only in the mind; an illusion.
Something dreaded or despised.
adj.
Resembling, characteristic of, or being a phantom; illusive.
Fictitious; nonexistent: phantom employees on the payroll.
[Middle English fantom, from Old French fantosme, probably from Vulgar Latin *phantauma, from Greek dialectal *phantagma, from Greek phantasma. (The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition. Houghton Mifflin Company, 2004.)
worm - Death; dissolution; the earth. ("An Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Traditional Symbols", J. C. Cooper, 1978)

in the deepest ocean...
the bottom of the sea
your eyes...
they turned me
why should i stay here?
why should i stay?
i'd be crazy not to follow...
follow where you lead
your eyes...
they turned me
turned me onto phantoms
i follow to the edge...
of the earth...
and fall off
everybody leaves
if they get the chance
and this...
is my chance
i get eaten by the worms...
and wierd fishes
picked over by the worms...
and wierd fishes...
wierd fishes...
wierd fishes
i hit the bottom...
hit the bottom...
and escaped
i hit the bottom
hit the bottom...
and escaped...
escaped
performed by thom yorke and jonny greenwood.
